My Design Style

I have recently discovered that my design taste have taken a turn towards tropical Brittish Colonial. I have done some extensive research on this design style and I've discovered I absolutely love it!

I have incorporated many of the elements into my home this past year.
I added these plantation chairs to my living room this winter. They are my favorite place to sit!

My hubby installed these dark wood floors this past summer. I love the distressed wide plank look.

Another Brittish Colonial design element is metallic touches

Exotic birds

Plantation shutters and neutral fiber rugs that are found and made in tropical areas.

I love the porches and tropical greenery as well! You can read how I added that in here.
Their are several other things that go with this design style. I just shared a few that I've added in recently!
Until next time!

Small Changes

I am really in denial that Christmas was just a month ago. Where does time go?

I decided this weekend it was time to start adding a few hints of greenery to my home. I love Spring time and if I blink it's going to be here. I love how cozy a room can be with some subtle greenery. I am currently into metallics and I'm loving them! I found this cute vase and knew it was coming home with me. I added a fern, and it reminds me of a pineapple every time I look at it.

I found this metallic tropical bird and he now sits on my coffee table surrounded by tropical greenery.

I changed out my magnolia wreath for this door bucket that I designed. I love hydrangeas so I added them in along with some other tropical filler.

I live near the coast so I am drawn to tropical
greenery that's everywhere around my town.

I had to make mention of my new decor sign that is above my living room couch. I am reminded to RELAX every time I see it. I am leaving some pics below of my changes I've made! Enjoy!

Until next time,

A Wall Goes Up!

Someone once told me that for every remodeling job that involves knocking down a wall, there's another that calls for putting one up.

Well that's exactly what I did! I immediately decided that out of every project I wanted to do ,this ranked the highest out of them all! I love the open space between my dining room and living room , but I love my dining room cabinet more!

I had two things out of all my furniture that I wanted to keep and the china cabinet was one of them. The other being my new (to me ) French country cabinet, you can read all about it here. So the solution that would work for both was put up a wall! Here is what the open space looked like before we had Jeff our contractor come in and work his magic.

To save on the cost I painted the wall and trim.

I love how one wall can completely change the whole look of two  areas in a home.

This solved my whole delimma!

I will leave you with some pics of my new wall!
