Deep South Plantation Homes Part II

I shared with you my pics from a recent trip I took down River Road here. I have enjoyed so many new experiences during my stay on River Road ,that I'm sure I'll have to go back again!  I was totally surprised that while visiting the Houmas House they encouraged and allowed you to take pictures! I took some pics of my favorite fireplaces, dining, and decor!

This fireplace had such character..

I love the floral arrangements

Just look at the details along this ceiling! Amazing!

This dining room with the majestic chandelier beckons you to sit and have a meal.

I love the ceiling decor and lighting! This is such an era that is truly gone with the wind!

While touring the Poche Plantation the tour guide asked if anyone could play the piano? My husband was offered a very rare chance to play this turn of the century piano!

I really enjoyed touring all the different plantations while visiting River Road. The Deep South is packed full of antebellum plantations that let us have a small glimpse into the past. While visiting the Deep South I discovered a quaint little restraunt that I'll be sharing with you soon! You will have to stay tuned!

Beautiful Balconies!

I  love looking at different balconies when I am traveling. Big or small, rich in design or plain and sleek they all intrigue me! I think the most amazing thing I've observed about balconies is they can be such an oasis from the hustle and bustle that sits below!

Some balconies are decorated with beautiful iron work

While others are made from wood that's been artistically adorned.

I love the different styles and colors!

I don't know about y'all but I can easily get sidetracked and have a glass of sweet tea while people watching from one of these great balconies!

I hope you have enjoyed my love of balconies today , thanks for stopping by!

My Favorite Summer Recipes

Okay ya'll it's that time of year. Where the family gets together for a fish fry or some BBQ.

When the blackberries need picking for that favorite cobbler

and the potato salad is a refreshing taste at family gatherings!

Some days are hotter than others so you need that Orange Julius or my Berrylicious smoothie to cool down.

We take walks on the beach and collect shells and then eat some local seafood

Sometimes it's just enjoying a dessert or two with some family & friends!

These recipes are all easy to make ,so you can spend time where it's important , with your family and friends!

Happy Father's Day!

I have the best dad in the world! He's always been there for me. I am truly blessed to have been raised in a home with a Godly father . He raised me to always live for The Lord . He taught me by example and for that I am forever grateful!

For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; Genesis 18:19.
In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. Proverbs 14:26

My father has been a pastor for most of my life. He stays extremely busy helping others and serving in the ministry. As his daughter, he has always made time for me no matter what is going on in his day. The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:7

He has a sign that hangs in his home that sums up the way he raised me .As for me and my house , we will serve The Lord . Joshua 24:15

Since I was a little girl I've always told him "I love you dad to the moon and back". His reply has always been " I love you to infinity and beyond"!

Happy Father's Day!

Sweet Summertime!

I think I love summer time more now than I did as a child! I have come to appreciate all that summer brings , even the sweltering heat that we get in coastal Georgia. Recently my daughter asked me to sum up summer time in a few words. I immediately thought of these two words laid- back! I want to share the meaning and some synonyms for laid- back because this describes summer perfectly in my mind!
The meaning of laid- back is relaxed and easygoing.  Now, that's my idea of a perfect summer!
  1. As you scroll through some of my summer time decor and flowers I will share some different synonyms I got right out of the dictionary!
    synonyms:for laid- back......

      Free and easy, casual, unruffled

         Nonchalant , low-maintenance,
         Calm....

                  Unflappable...

                             Unconcerned

                                   Unbothered

                                      Leisurely

                              Tolerant

                        Stoical

                           Phlegmatic

I don't know about you but I must try to be more laid - back! The dictionary has summed up exactly my kind of summer!

Apple Cinnamon Muffins

I am in love with this muffin recipe! I love making muffins homemade; I must have the taste of real apple and cinnamon in a muffin-- it is a HUGE difference than a fake flavored mix! I feel I should warn you that once you make these you will have a hard time purchasing the store mixes! I understand how time consuming it can be to make food from scratch and that is why most of America has turned to everything being made from a pre-packaged mix.  I am not super woman so I have to tell you if I didn't make these up on a day that I set aside to do them, there is about a 100 percent chance I would never make them in the morning before I go to work! I am at work by 7:30 A.M. so I am very pressed for time most mornings. My answer to this problem is... I make my muffins up and freeze them so that we can have them anytime we want muffins for breakfast.
I love this recipe because you can't really mess it up!

Recipe
3/4 c milk
1/2 c applesauce(or oil)
1 egg
2 c all purpose flour
1/2 c sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 med apple pared and chopped
1/4 c chopped walnuts(optional)
Beat first three ingredients.
Stir in apple

Add remaining ingredients and mix.
Sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Pour in a greased 12 cup muffin pan or 24 cup mini muffin pan. An ice cream scoop works great for the 12 cup standard muffin pan and a cookie scoop works great for the mini muffins.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.
To freeze your muffins - completely cool muffins and store in a freezer bag! I always double my recipe and make some to eat and then freeze the second batch.

Enjoy!
