My French Vanilla Coffee Creamer

I am trying to take a healthy approach this year. I have tried to stay away from hydrogenated oils for some time now. I have changed many of my food choices and I have even gone to  making more items homemade opposed to the convenient packaged boxes that are sitting on the store shelf loaded with hydrogenated oils. I have made several of these changes very slowly so that I don't get over whelmed. I have to admit, this last change was purposely saved till last. I love my coffee creamer. I will do without and give up many things, but my creamer was non negotiable! I wake up every morning with it and every afternoon I sit down for a few minutes and savor my cup of coffee before my evening activities start in.

I started thinking of a way I could change my creamer and be okay with it. One memory of a visit to my grandmothers home came to mind. I would sit
down at her table and have a cup of coffee with her. She always opened up a can of sweetened condensed milk and she would pour it in large amounts till you said that's good! I am use to a thinner coffee creamer so I have played around with this recipe to give it just the right flavor and consistency.

1 (14) oz. can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 c half and half
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

You will need a medium size saucepan. Whisk together condensed milk and half and half on low heat till combined.

Next, whisk in vanilla and cinnamon.
Warm mixture till it steams. Stir often.
Do not bring to a boil.

Move away from heat and let set for five minutes.
To store creamer pour into a glass container and cover.

The homemade French Vanilla Creamer will last 10 days in the refrigerator.
I hope you enjoy this as much I do!
