Homemade Caramel Corn

I wanted to share with you one of my most beloved fall recipes.. I would go stay with my aunt and uncle on weekends and this is a family recipe she taught me. I don't feel like its fall until I have made a batch of caramel corn! My daughter is now learning to make this with me! I just love family recipes that are passed down like this!

So here is the recipe!

Caramel Corn

1 c butter

2 c brown sugar

1/2 c light corn syrup
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
5 qts. popcorn (or five lg. bags of microwave)

I always pour my popcorn in a strainer and then shake till all the seeds go to the bottom. This will save you a visit to the dentist!

Stir in the first four ingredients in a pot on medium heat.

Bring to a boil for 5 minutes.

Once it has done a rolling boil for 5 minutes set pot aside and stir in baking soda and vanilla.

Pour over popcorn and bake on 250 degrees for 45 minutes.

Stir every 15 minutes till done.

Cool on parchment paper and then break apart.

I hope you enjoy this recipe for years to come!

My Fall Mountain Find!

I have been on vacation and oh do I have some fun stuff to share with you!

I have got into all kinds of stuff lately. I am loving this "nip" we have in the air so fall is officially in full swing at my home! I want to share a cute place that I visited while on my vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains. I found this cute store called Apple Annie's!

She is located right off the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Loop! I love to drive and stop all along the loop and visit all the local craftsman and shops!

Annie's sells a mix of old Antiques along with her own special mix of oils and soaps!

You can find beautiful rugs, pictures, and handmade pumpkins that are made by several local artists.

You will find a wide variety of jams and apple cider for sell in her shop!

My favorite part about Annie's store is the wonderful aroma that fills the store and permeates out into the parking lot! This is her own oil that is mixed by her. I shared that with you here.

My hubby loves her old coke machine! I found him outside sipping on a coke out of the good old glass bottles!

He says plastic bottles don't get as cold!

I find this store one of my favorite to visit each year! I will leave you with some pictures of Annie's store! Should you visit Gatlinburg you will have to make time to stop in and visit!
