Dining Room Table Makeover

I shared with you my new to me table that I bought back in late summer here

I had great hopes of getting right on that makeover and sharing wonderful pictures a week after I posted the table find...said no one ever!

I love hosting the holidays at my home for one big reason.. Every project that you put off all year long WILL get done if everyone is invited to come to your home for the holidays. Like many years past, we started working on a few projects that were put off till now. One being my dining room table! I painted the chairs and lower half with Annie Sloan chalk paint in graphite.

I then went over that with a dark wax to give it that dark black color. I had a little help from my hubby on this project.

He sanded the top of the table and stained it Carrington.

He then applied several coats of polyurethane to protect the color.

I am so happy with the final outcome!

I am one extremely thankful lady! Who says hosting a dinner is so bad?

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Thanksgiving for so many reasons.
I read a passage of scripture today that just summed up my Thanksgiving all in one verse!
1 Chronicles 16:34 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

I have to say that God's mercy is renewed every morning in my life! I am so thankful this morning that his mercy will last forever.
He has blessed me in so many ways but the biggest blessing of all is that I can have the chance to live for him every day that his mercy is renewed!
I have added in some of my Thanksgiving décor for this year!
I included a video of one of my favorite songs below. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I have!

Happy Thanksgiving and may God bless your family beyond all that you ever dreamed!

My love for Baskets!

I found the cutest store while on vacation this year. I love baskets, and this store was full of them!

I especially love the fact that the baskets are handmade by a local artist. They offer hand carved baskets made out of birch wood. These twig baskets are so cute!
I love how they hung them throughout the store and all over the porch!
I brought home two different baskets from this place! I love my hand carved birch basket that I hung in my entry way for fall! I also picked up this cute basket to hold some firewood next to my fireplace this winter.
I love supporting local art and craftsmen.

Inspired By A Visit

I found this favorite store a few years ago while on an afternoon trip that started out antiquing.  I set out to visit a small town that is nestled on the quiet side of the Smokies. I stopped for lunch at the BBQ place I told you about here. Then I went into several stores that I can truly get lost in for hours! They are just packed with antiques from yester years. I am famous for getting side tracked while out on an adventure! This day was no different! I had missed my turn and had to travel down a few miles to do a U turn and lo and behold I got side tracked for sure! I found the Apple Valley Country Stores! They carry everything from coffee to home décor!

I love when I can walk into a store and be inspired with new ideas for a project. I stood looking at this shelf for over 30 minutes this particular day!

Did I mention I love this?

I will share my project that I have been working on with you very soon!
One last thing I will mention is they have a wonderful porch to sit on when your all shopped out! I have a few guys that enjoy playing checkers out on the rockers while I shop! This store is perfect for just about everyone! I will leave you with some pics from my visit for now! Happy Fall Ya'll!

Charlotte's Web Party

I have been reading Charlotte's Web for the month of October to the second graders at school. I told them we would watch the movie and have a party once we finished reading the book first! They have waited very patiently all month to have our party. We celebrate everything in a big way in second grade. This was their first creative writing page ever! So they read their creative writing papers to their parents and former teachers and then we celebrated with a big party! Here are some pics of the party I threw. I have to say a huge thank you to several of the parents for all of their help.
I made these cupcakes and added a Charlotte on top!

Here is a craft the kids did during art one week.

We added quotes from the book to their craft and then displayed them on these cute spider suckers!

I have to give pinterest the credit for the idea of the lollipop turned spider. These were super easy to make.
I found this spider cupcake stand at Joann's on sale. I used a coupon combined with the sale. What a deal! I added the bow.
I made some homemade caramel corn which you can read about here. I filled them in these cute fall paper sacks. This added a county fair feel to our party!
Of coarse we added a little salty to cut the sweet with our chips.
The chips are in a webbed bowl. I found these cute bowls at Dollar Tree!
I sprinkled some sparkly spiders on the table and we had a super easy party! I hope this inspires you as much as it did me! I will leave you with some pics of my favorite quotes from Charlotte's Web.
